There is no excuse to take out your anger on someone else. Those who threaten and terrorize others should be punished for their crimes.
Domestic violence remains a big problem to battle, we have become accustomed to seeing some men believe they have the right to abuse women.
Women may even end up murdered by their tormentors in worst-case scenarios and police often fail to give women proper protection afterward.
Some women thankfully are brave enough to break out for good.
Kelsie Skillen from Glasgow was 19 almost lost her life when beaten by her ex-boyfriend James McCourt.
One night James became so furious that he locked Kelsie in their home and tortured her for 4 hours she had no idea how aggressive her boyfriend could be.
Domestic abuse typically does not just arise from nowhere its unclear if James showed signs of violence at an earlier stage.
Often, men with controlling behavior try to limit her contacts with friends and family.
They need to feel in control and show this in various ways, spying on their communications with others, telling a woman how to dress and becoming jealous when she talks with other men.
Partners may phone to tell her to be home at a given time and become furious if she returns late.
But such men are insecure cowards who prey on women they think they can scare. Meanwhile, these women begin to suffer from low self-esteem after a period of time from the abuse.
Listen to the advice of friends and family they may know best even if your heart says he is a good guy.
Your intuition within you will warn you that what’s happening in your relationship is not right so pay attention to it.
While heading home after a night out James became enraged on this particular evening toward his girlfriend Kelsie.
James became furious when Kelise refused to give him a cigarette after he blamed her for forgetting his jacket and began yelling.
“He said it was my fault,” Kelsie says, adding:
“I had left his jacket, then he just flipped and grabbed me and attacked me.”
James held her hostage for hours he shut down their internet, hid her cell phone.
She had no idea if she would live to see another day as he made it impossible for her to escape from their home.
Kelsie was restrained on the floor as James hit her in the chest several times during this horrific attack.
James threatened, beat her, spat and poured water on her while yelling at her.
In the meantime, Kelsie could only think about how she would save herself.
She appealed to James: his actions would have consequences she warned. “Is this worth going to jail? she asked him.
Each time his response was: “I don’t care if I go to jail as long as you’re dead.”
He hit Kelsie until she was unconscious James had turned into a monster he was no longer human; kelsie felt she would not survive.
James went to use the toilet a few hours after the abuse. This was her opportunity to escape death.
She managed to get to her iPad, which was almost dead, she reached for a cable and managed to connect to the internet. Kelsie contacted her mother who instantly responded.
James fled from the scene when Kelsie’s mom reacted quickly and rushed home. Later he was arrested and sentenced to 21 months in prison, for the offense committed.
Kelsie showed both strength and courage by surviving this scary situation!
