Erika Poremski was at home in Baltimore with her eight-month-old daughter Viviana and dog Polo when a nasty storm blew out the electricity in August 2016.

Lighting some candles in the dark Erika tried to make a phone call, but her battery was dead.

She ran to her car to charge the phone outsider, at that moment the horrifying nightmare unfolded.

Erika looked back at her home from inside the car, she was met with a horrific sight of her house was on fire with her daughter Viviana and pet Polo trapped inside.

She couldn’t get past the staircase downstairs as the smoke was so heavy.

As she grabbed the railing the skin melted off her hand, she barely noticed her injuries as she was so determined to save Viviana.

At this stage, her neighbors had gathered round to assist but no one was able to reach the little girl upstairs.

Once firefighters arrived at the scene they burst into the home.

Erika feared it was too late and that Viviana did not make as she stood outside in shock and panic.

The fire crew emerged from the flames after a few horrifying minutes, with the eight-month-old baby cradled in their arms Viviana was alive.

Erika was informed by firefighters what her beloved dog Polo had done as the flames engulfed her house.
